In his talk to the medical staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Sloan-Kettering, Ram Dass spoke of his views of death, and the way they have evolved with his spiritual ripening. He encouraged the doctors and nurses to recognize that one purpose of palliative care is to shift the focus from this world to the mystery of death and the preparation for entering the unknown.
