RAM DASS: EVOLVING WISDOM

This collector’s series encompasses some of Ram Dass’ deepest teachings over the past four decades. With his characteristic blend of stories, humor, and honesty, Ram Dass shares with us the unfolding of his own spiritual journey – and ours.

Volume 1 The Early Years 1967-1974

• The Core Book Darshan ... This concluding lecture in the Sculpture Studio Series (recorded in 1969) was the source for the memorable "brown pages" section of Ram Dass’ spiritual classic, Be Here Now. It is a profound introduction to the mystical journey. (2 CDs)

• The Meninger Lectures ...These lectures (given in 1970) were the essence of Ram Dass’second book, The Only Dance There Is. Ram Dass’ talks about psychotherapy and spiritual practice, evolving consciousness, the nature of spiritual methods, and the energy systems of the chakras. (3 CDs)

• Karma and Reincarnation ... This lecture on the nature of karma and the unfolding of the reincarnational journey is from Ram Dass’ 1974 seminar on the "Yogas of the Bhagavad Gita." He describes the way our inner wisdom brings us to an understanding of the workings of reincarnation, and the way that that growing understanding alters our lives. Volume 2 The Middle Decade 1975-1985

• Karma and Reincarnation ... Exploring further this central spiritual issue, Ram Dass gave this lecture at Roger Williams College in 1976. It is a profound reflection about the way karma operates in our lives, and about the purpose of a human incarnation. (1 CD)

• Life’s Seasons ... Our lives have their changing seasons, and especially as we age it becomes significant how we deal with the shiftings of time. In this 1977 talk, Ram Dass leads us to a place in our consciousness where we "do not flicker in the winds of change." (1 CD)

• Dying into Life ...In 1979, at an extraordinary week-long workshop on death and dying, Ram Dass gave this talk about "the narrow way that leads to life." It is a deep, flowing reflection on the unfolding of the spiritual journey. (2 CDs)

• The Nature of Reality ... This 1980 conversation between Ram Dass and noted physicist Amit Goswami (who appeared in the film "What the Bleep Do We Know?") probes the nature of the physical universe. It explores the convergence between contemporary physics and a spiritual perspective on the world. (1 CD)

• The Abode of the Message ... "There is perfection in our predicament," Ram Dass says – in the way we have chosen our life circumstances to fulfill the Soul’s curriculum. Ram Dass, in this 1981 lecture, reassures us that from the Soul’s point of view, "it’s perfectly safe to stand nowhere." Volume 3 The Ripening Years 1986-2004

• Karma and Compassion ... From the Listening Heart series, recorded at the 1989 summer retreats, Ram Dass responds to questions about the nature of compassionate action, and how that translates into action in the world. (1 CD)

• Generosity of the Heart ..."Science and technology have become our religion," Ram Dass says in this 1991 lecture; in the process we’ve become entangled in the creations of our minds, and lost our way to our hearts. The spiritual journey, he tells us, is about shedding the illusion of our separateness and awakening to the awareness that we are One. • Aging & Awakening and Facing Death ... At the 1992 Omega conference, "Conscious Aging: A Creative and Spiritual Journey," Ram Dass reflected about the closing stages of an incarnation. In "Aging and the Awakening Potential of Change" he speaks about the spiritual grace of the aging process, which takes us out of our egos and into Soul Awareness. In "Facing Death" he tells us that an important item on our spiritual agenda is becoming comfortable with the knowledge of death. • The Advanced Course ... When we find ourselves living in ways that no longer represent our inner truth, what do we do? At the 1993 "Wisdom Heart" retreat, Ram Dass gave this lecture about bringing greater awareness to each moment and each act of our lives. (1 CD)

• Dancing with Shiva ..."I took my stroke, and I reperceived it as Grace. I wonder whether a culture could do that." In 2001, less than three weeks after the events of "9/11," Ram Dass presented this lecture in Yonkers, NY, and shared his experience of turning suffering into Grace. (1 CD)
